Production Line Overview and Technical Layout

Our engineering team configured this production line to handle the unique physical properties of sodium bentonite, which relies on a precise balance of moisture and mechanical rolling to form hard, highly absorbent spheres.

1. Continuous Feeding and Dual Pan Granulation

The core of the line features two industrial pan granulators running in a parallel configuration. Raw, pulverized sodium bentonite is smoothly transported to the disc inlets via automated belt conveyors.

The Pan Granulator Advantage: As the discs rotate, adjustable water spray nozzles mist the clay powder. Under the influence of centrifugal force and gravity, the fine particles roll into uniform spheres.

Operational Flexibility: Utilizing two granulators instead of one large unit allows the plant to run at half capacity during maintenance windows, preventing total factory downtime.

2. Smart Weighing and Moisture Control

Automated Batching & Weighing: To ensure consistent water absorption and clumping performance, the raw clay and functional additives (such as deodorizing carbon or color indicators) are precisely measured by an electronic weighing system before entering the granulators.

Rotary Drum Drying: Freshly extruded bentonite spheres emerge from the discs with high surface moisture. The granules are instantly conveyed into a heavy-duty rotary drum dryer. This stage gently reduces the moisture content down to safe storage levels, locking in the pellet's structural strength without causing internal cracking.

3. Precision Sifting, Dust Removal, and Packaging

Premium cat litter must be virtually dust-free to meet market expectations.

Rotary Grading Sieves: The dried bentonite pellets enter a high-capacity screening machine. Oversized clumps are isolated for recycling, while undersized fines are automatically routed back to the pan granulators.

Automated Packaging: The qualified 1–4mm rounded pellets are dust-cleaned and moved to the terminal hopper. A high-speed, integrated weighing and packaging machine automatically fills, seals, and dates the final retail bags, minimizing manual labor.
